In the county known by the name “Mihalıç” during the ancient period, “Karaca Family”, a Turkish family, settled in the area during the Ottoman Period, took over the management. The Ulu Mosque, which was built during the Ottoman period; the Karacabey Mosque and the Issız Han are among the important historical artifacts of the county. Karacabey Stud Farm, famous for horse breeding, which belongs to the county, also houses major agricultural enterprises. Bayramdere, 32 km far away from the county is important for the summer tourism with its wide sandy beaches. Additionally, the Bird Sanctuary (Kuş Cenneti) 13 km away from the county, which shelters many bird species is a corner of paradise with a variety of trees to be seen. The fact that the county is located at the junction of the highways to İzmir and Bursa-Çanakkale, the Bursa-Balıkesir intersection point, has increased its importance.
