Gemlik

Gemlik is located 32 km to the northwest of Bursa and on the gulf-facing slopes of the mountains surrounding the Gemlik Bay. The county is known as the oldest city established near to Bursa, which extends back to the 12th century B.C. After being added to the Turkish territory, the county was named “Gemilik” which means 'where the ships dock and are produced' in the time of the Ottoman Sultan Orhan Bey. Highlighted by the sea tourism during summer time, Gemlik is also known for its delicious table olives. The county is accessible via the Bursa – Yalova Road.
