Yıldırım, established at the slopes of Uludağ, east of Bursa, has its name from the Ottoman Sultan Yıldırım Bayezid. The Town constitutes the central district of Bursa together with Osmangazi and Nilufer counties. Ski lifts connection with Uludağ, Turkey’s most popular winter sports center is made from Yıldırım. The village of Cumalıkızık, where Ottoman architecture has been carefully preserved until today, is important for the touristic value of county. Many historic structures are located here in Yıldırım, such as Yıldırım Mosque Complex, Green Mosque Complex and especially Emir Sultan Mosque, that are from the Ottoman period. Transportation to the county is provided through Ankara Road and the surroundings.
