The old name of the county, situated 77 km away to west of Bursa's city center, was Kirmasti. The county has witnessed various settlements throughout History and the ancient city Miletopolis is also inside its boundaries. There are some historical assets in the town center, such as the Lala Şahin Mausoleum, the Hamzabey Mosque and Mausoleum, the Şeyhmüftü Mosque and Mausoleum, the Dorak Treasury Region and the Kestelek ruins. Additionally the Suuçtu Waterfalls located near to the Muradiyesarnıç village, the Tümbüldek Spas located near the village Akarca and Suçıktı Picnic Area are natural beauties that are worth visiting. The economy of the county is based on agriculture and livestock farming and the transportation is provided through the Izmir Road.
