Gemlik is located 32 km Northwest of Bursa and on the gulf-facing slopes of the mountains surrounding the Gemlik Bay. The county is known as the oldest city established near Bursa, which extends back to XII. Century BC. After being added to Turkish territory, the county was named “Gemilik” which means where the ships dock and are produced in the time of Ottoman Sultan Orhan Bey. Highlighted by the sea tourism during the summer months, Gemlik is also known for its delicious table olives. Transport to the county is possible from Bursa – Yalova Road.
